Hastings Jumpouts - Monday 20 September
John Jenkins | September 20, 2021

Eye-catching performances by Shezzacatch, Wewillrock and Blissful Belle were the highlights at this morning’s Hastings jumpouts.

There were 12 heats run on the course proper, where the markers were out approximately 10 metres from the running rail. It provided dead footing.

Shezzacatch recorded the fastest time of the 1000m heats when she finished strongly to head off Sunlit Lane and Penny Royal in a time of 1:01.3.

Shezzacatch was scratched from last Saturday’s Hawke’s Bay meeting once track conditions came up a slow-8. The Savabeel mare won two races on dead footing last season including the Listed El Roca-Sir Colin Meads Trophy (1200m) at Hastings. She will now be aimed at a Rating 74 race over 1200m on the second day of the Hawke’s Bay spring carnival, on October 2.

Wewillrock and Blissful Belle went across the line locked together in another 1000m heat, with the former just getting the decision by a head and clocked 1:01.8.

Wewillrock is another horse who has been working well for some time. He was scratched from last Friday’s Taupo meeting as co-trainer Guy Lowry didn’t want to kick him off in track conditions that was too testing. He may now head to Rotorua on Wednesday of next week for a maiden three-year-old race over 1215m.

Blissful Babe is a promising Belardo filly in the John Bary stable who also won at the last lot of Hastings jumpouts, at the beginning of September. She is another who looks ready to go to the races.
