Hastings Trackwork 7 Aug 2018

Rekohu Diva, preparing for a maiden 1200m race at Woodville on Thursday, produced a good solo workout at this morning’s Hastings track session.

Fast work was mainly confined to the No.1 grass, which provided reasonably good footing after more than 40 millimetres of rain since last Friday.

Rekohu Diva was not extended when running a solo 800m in 55.7, the first 200 in 15.9 and the last 600 in 39.8. The Playmaker mare looks to have trained on well since recording a good debut second over 1200m at Hastings on July 19, Timothy Johnson has been booked to ride her on Thursday.

Shez Ekstra and Tuigirl, both entered for the three-year-old fillies maiden at Woodville, worked easily together over 1000m, the last 600 in 45.9. They both show good promise and were at last Thursday’s Hastings jumpouts.

Impressive last start winner Surpriseus was another let off with an easy workout today when she finished off the last 600m of her work on the grass in 43.7. The Showcasing mare credited Kate Hercock with her first training success when successful over 1200m at Hastings on July 19.

Cafe Culture, back for another preparation with owner-trainer Margaret Larsen, worked on the plough (slushy) and ran an easy 600m in 41.7 while Woodville entrant Cowboys Don’t Cry was restricted to just three-quarter pace when also working on the plough.

My Big Sister and a Per Incanto three-year-old gelding were timed to run home the last 600m of their work on the grass in 39.6 while Whowouldknow finished off his work on the grass with 600m in 45.

Lady Guinness, in the early stages of another preparation, was let stride out from the top of the straight on the grass and recorded 25.9s while a Rip Van Winkle-Dorotea Dior three-year-old filly did similar work and was timed to run down the straight in 24.8.

A Niagara four-year-old and one by Nom de Jeu, both in the Kate Hercock stable, worked in at three-quarter pace from the 1000m peg on the grass and came home the last 600 in 43.6.
