Wewillrock showed he is coming up well in a fresh campaign by recording an impressive win at today’s Hastings jumpouts.

There were nine heats and they were run about five metres out from the running rail on the course proper, where the ground was slow.

Wewillrock contested one of the 750m heats and cruised to a 3-1/2 length win in the hands of amateur jockey Sameer Mohammed. The El Roca gelding clocked 47.93s and was not extended.

Wewillrock is the winner of three races from only seven starts. He hasn’t raced since scoring a dominant 1-1/4 length win over 1100m at Te Rapa back in May of last year and the Guy Lowry-trained four-year-old is being prepared for a late summer and autumn campaign.

Other good winners at the jumpouts were Tell A Story and Succeeder.

Tell A Story clocked the fastest time of the two 1000m heats at 60.93s and won by a length from the race winner Duncan Creek. She is a Telperion four-year-old mare in the John Bary stable who hasn’t raced since finishing third in a 1400m maiden race at Otaki in November 2021.

Succeeder won the first of two 1200m heats by three lengths. She is a Savabeel three-year-old filly trained by Guy Lowry and was also a winner at the last lot of Hastings jumpouts, back in the first week of December.

A new rider was in action at the jumpouts in Gareth Lahoud. The South African-born amateur jockey has spent time riding in the United Kingdom and is now working for John Bary. He rode three winners from six rides at today’s jumpouts.
