Pablo Esk showed he has trained on the right way since his last start win at the Hawke’s Bay New Year’s Day meeting by recording a strong solo gallop at this morning’s Hastings track session.

Fast work was confined to the plough, which provided good footing.

Pablo Esk worked in from the 1000m peg in 1:03.2, running the first 400m in 25.8 and coming home the last 600 in 37.4.

The Alamosa gelding has won his last two starts and will line up next in a Rating 74 race over 1400m at Hastings on Thursday of next week.

Miss Wrigley, another likely starter at next week’s Hawke’s Bay meeting, worked in at three-quarter pace from the 1000m peg and increased the speed over the last 800 in 51.9 and final 600 in 37.8.

Velarde was not hurried when running a solo 1000m in 1:12.4, the last 600 in 41.2 while Bellesgirl ended her work with 600m in 40.8.

Who’s Alice clocked 1:06.6 for 1000m, the last 600 in 38.1 while For Pepe’s Sake had trainer Fred Pratt aboard when working over a round and was timed to run the last 1000m in 1:08.1 and final 600 in 38.6.

A Reliable Man-Lichen Moss three-year-old filly was travelling keenly on the outside of an El Roca two-year-old filly at the end of an easy 600m in 43.8 while a Niagara-Pare four-year-old mare in the Thompson/Brown stable ended her work with 600m in 39.7.

A Reliable Man three-year-old filly in the Lowry/Cullen stable was kept to just three-quarter pace, running home the last 600m in 43.1.
