Hastings Trackwork - Tuesday 2 February 2021
John Jenkins | February 03, 2021

Penny Royal was striding out well over the final stages of her workout at this morning’s Hastings track session.

There was not much in the way of fast work, which was confined to the plough (good).

Penny Royal worked in from the 1000m peg at three-quarter pace and was only let stride out fully over the final 400m which she ran in 23.1s.

The Per Incanto mare was an impressive winner over 1100m at Taupo two starts back and was less than four lengths from the winner when seventh over 1340m at Wanganui last start. She will now contest a Rating 74 race over 1400m at the Wairoa meeting at Hastings on February 21.

Uncle Bro, who heads to New Plymouth this Saturday for a Rating 65 race over 1800m, was given a solo workout over a round on the plough. He was timed over the last 1200m in 1:26.1 and came home the last 600 in 39.9.

The Uncle Mo did not have a lot of luck when sixth over 1600m at Wanganui last start.

Saskatchewan was let off with an easy 800m in 58.4, the last 600 in 43.6 while Matt Kain was given two easy rounds at half-pace. He went a good race for fourth over 1400m at Hastings last week and will now be stepped up to 1600m at the Wairoa meeting at Hastings on February 21.
