Checkpoint Charlie and Bahia Emerald worked well together over 1200m at this morning’s Hastings track session.
There was little in the way of fast work, which was confined to the plough (good).
Checkpoint Charlie and Bahia Emerald worked in from the 1200m peg in 1:21.6, running the first 600m at three-quarter pace before sprinting home the last 600 in 36.5.
Percytheperincanto and High Heaven, two horses trained by Tony and Penny Ebbett at Waipukurau, worked together over a round and were only let stride out fully up the home straight. They were timed to come home the last 600m in 41.8, with both horses working strongly at the finish.
Percytheperincanto showed his first glimpse of form with a second over 1600m at Hastings last start while High Heaven is a big two-year-old filly by Echoes Of Heaven who won a recent Waipukurau jumpout.
Both horses will be entered for the Wanganui meeting on Friday of next week.
Nitrice and a Tivaci-Strolling Vagabond two-year-old, both trained by Guy Lowry, were kept to not much more than three-quarter pace when working together over 800m, the last 600 in 43.5.
Last start winner Gohugo finished his work with 600m in 43 while Merde Roche, an Ocean Park gelding in the Lowry stable, clocked 1:23.7 for a solo 1200m workout, the last 600 in 41.1.
A Charm Spirit-Diplomacy three-year-old gelding and Doubledee, two others in the Lowry stable, ended their work with 600m in 42.1 while Candle and Judge Kellie both underwent similar work.
