One Dream One Soul worked well on her own at this morning’s Hastings track session as she prepares for the Hastings race meeting on June 5.

Fast work was confined to the plough, which provided good footing.

One Dream One Soul worked in easily from the 1000m peg in 1:11.1, running the first 400m at three-quarter pace before quickening over the last 600 in 38.6.

Trainer Lee Somervell scratched the Ekraar mare from Awapuni last Saturday when the track was rated a heavy-10. She will now contest the open handicap at the King’s Birthday Monday meeting at Hastings, which has been transferred from Te Aroha.

Somervell said this will be One Dream One Soul’s last race before she goes out for a winter spell.

Gohugo, a likely starter in a maiden 1400m race at Hastings on June 5, was kept under a good hold when running a solo 1000m in 1:09.2, the last 600 in 41.1 while stablemate Epairama, who is down to start at this Thursday’s Hawke’s Bay meeting, ended her work with 600m in 41.9.

Judge Kellie, who will start next on the Awapuni synthetic track on June 1, worked with stablemate Candle over 800m in 50.2, running the first 200m in a quick 12s before slowing slightly over the last 600 in 38.2.

Judge Kellie won well over 1200m at Woodville two starts back and then got bogged down on a very heavy track when fifth at Awapuni last start.

Candle is coming up well and will have a jumpout at Waipukurau this Friday.

Bahia Emerald, who will have her first start for her new trainer Patrick Campbell at Hastings this Thursday, was given two easy 600m runs, the first taking 40.6 and the second in 40. She is a Darci Brahma mare who was formerly trained at Matamata and has recorded a win and several minor placings on rain affected tracks.

She’s Miss Gevious and a Time Test two-year-old filly, both in the Pratt/Johnson stable, ended their work with an easy 600m in 41.6 while Supercell finished in front of stablemate Ravenna Rose at the end of an easy 800m. They are both entered for Thursday’s Hastings meeting.

A Dial A Prayer three-year-old gelding and one by Belardo, two others trained by Fred Pratt and Caitlin Johnson, worked over 1000m, running home the last 600 in 37.9.

An Eminent two-year-old filly and a Satono Aladdin two-year-old gelding, both trained by Guy Lowry, worked in at three-quarter pace from the 1000m and quickened slightly over the last 600 in 40.4. Both horses show good potential.
