John Jenkins | January 12, 2022

Stablemates Mohaka and Can I Get An Amen, both entered for feature races at Trentham on Saturday, recorded a strong workout together at Tuesday’s Hastings track session.

Fast work was confined to the plough, which provided good footing.

Mohaka and Can I Het An Amen worked in from the 1000m peg in 1:03.7, running the first 400 in 27.8 before sprinting home the last 600 in 35.9. Both horses were hitting out well at the finish.

Mohaka lines up in the Group 3 Trentham Stakes (2100m) on Saturday while Can I Get An Amen takes on the top sprinters in the Group 1 Telegraph (1200m), with Craig Grylls booked to ride her.

Last start winner Hunta Pence, another entered for the Trentham Stakes, was let off with two rounds of pacework and was to have a gallop the following day.

Matt Cain, entered for the Rating 65 race over 1200m at Trentham on Saturday, had trainer Fred Pratt aboard when sprinting a quick 600m in 35s. He was a good last start second over 1200m at Hastings.

One Dream One Soul, entered for a maiden race over 1400m at Otaki on Thursday, was let off with an easy 800m in 56.2, the last 600 in 40 while Secret Falls worked in easily from the 600m peg in 42.7, sprinting home the last 400m in 24.4.

A Niagara three-year-old gelding and a Wrote two-year-old filly, both trained by Dean Howard, ran an easy 600m together in 41.7.
