Hastings Trackwork - Tuesday 25 January
John Jenkins | January 25, 2022

Love Letter, preparing for Saturday’s Group 3 Desert Gold Stakes at Trentham, turned in a good workout in company at this morning’s Hastings track session.

Fast work was confined to the plough, which provided good footing.

Love Letter worked with the maiden galloper Truly over 1000m in 1:08.3. They were only going easily for the first 400m but then sprinted home the last 400 in 24.9 and both horses were hitting out well at the finish.

Love Letter is a promising three-year-old filly by Wrote in the Lowry/Cullen stable who was an impressive debut winner over 1230m at Rotorua last month and has followed that up with two unlucky performances at Taupo and Otaki. In-form jockey Sam Weatherley has been booked to ride her on Saturday.

Truly is a four-year-old mare by The Bold One in the Patrick Campbell stable and has recorded a third and a fifth from her last two starts. She lines up in a maiden 1400m race at Hastings on with Johnathan Parkes booked to ride.

Magic Incanto, who lines up again on her home track at Hastings on Thursday, had trainer Fred Pratt aboard when sprinting the last 600m of her work in 36s. She has a good record on the Hastings track.

Bazooka, another entered for the maiden 1400m race at Hastings, worked well on his own over 1200m in 1:22.7, the last 600 in 38.4. He was a good last start third and looks close to clearing maiden ranks.

His stablemate King Farouk worked easily over a round on the plough and was timed to run the last 1200m in 1:28.9 and final 600 in 41.8. He lines up in the Rating 65 race over 1400m at Hastings with Sam O’Malley to ride him.

Herself, who looks a good chance in the maiden 2100m race at Hastings, was let off with an easy 600m in 44.1 while a Shocking four-year-old mare trained by Pam Holden recorded 52.6 for 800m, the last 600 in 37.5.

A Sweynesse-Happy To Keeper two-year-old filly trained by Lee Somervell ended her work with 400m in 25.5 while a Vespa three-year-old gelding I n the Thompson/Brown stable clocked 57.8 for an easy 800m, the last 600 in 42.1.

An Ocean Park three-year-old filly and an Alamosa four-year-old mare worked together over 600m in 37.1 while a Mongolian Khan three-year-old and a Mongolian Khan two-year-old also worked together when running 600m in 40.4.

A Sacred Falls two-year-old and one by Time Test, both in the Lowry/Cullen stable, ran an easy 600m together in 41.3 while a Wrote three-year-old filly prepared by Dean Howard ran a solo 600m in 40.7

A Nadeem-Ballsinyourcourt two-year-old gelding and a Zed three-year-old filly worked together over 600m in 41.1.
