Hastings Trackwork - Tuesday 14 June
John Jenkins | June 14, 2022

Call Me Jack, who could start at Trentham this Saturday, worked well on his own at today’s Hastings trackwork session.

Fast work was carried out on the plough and No.1 grass, both tracks providing heavy footing after another six and a half millimetres of rain overnight.

Call Me Jack worked over 1000m in 1:03.8, running the first 400m in 25.6 before coming home the last 600 in 38.2. The Jakkalberry gelding missed a start at last Saturday’s abandoned Trentham meeting and will be entered for the Rating 65 race over 2200m there this weekend. Any rain on the day will help his chances.

The Stoney One worked on the plough and was not hurried when running 1000m  in 1:12, the last 600 in 42.4. He was a good last start third over 1200m at Woodville and is now being aimed at a three-year-old 1200m race at Te Rapa on July 9.

Master Brewer was another who was not extended when running 1000m on the grass in 1:14.7, the last 600 in 41.5. He was a good winner at last week’s Hastings jumpouts and is close to a return to racing.

Lilly The Filly, a Keeper three-year-old in Fred Pratt’s stable, recorded one of the quickest times of the session when working in from the 1000m peg on the plough in 1:07.1 and sprinting home the last 600m in 37.2.

Two Mongolian Falcon two-year-old geldings in Vicki Wilson’s stable sprinted 600m on the grass in 37.2 while She’s Mischievous ran a solo 600m on the plough in 38.

Estefania was given an easy 1000m workout on the plough in 1:12.7 while her stablemate Free Thyme also worked over 1000m but could not be timed in the bad light.

Erebus had trainer Kate Hercock aboard when working over 1000m on the plough and stretched out well over the last 600m in 37. He is a big four-year-old by Zacinto who was unplaced in one start at the beginning of this season but had won a 1000m trial at Foxton before that.

Tin Pan Alley clocked 54.7 for 800m on the plough, the last 600 in 38.4 while Moonlight Hussler ran 1000m on the same track in 1:08.7, the last 600 in 39.5

The Mammoth worked on his own over 1000m on the grass in 1:10.4, the last 600 in 40.5 and he was another who won at last week’s Hastings jumpouts.

A Mongolian Khan three-year-old filly and one by Tobique, both trained by Vicki Wilson, worked over 1000m on the grass in 1:08.6, the last 600 in 38.9 while a Mongolian Khan three-year-old gelding and a Mongolian Khan two-year-old gelding from the Vicki Wilson stable ran 600m on the grass in 38.9.

Oxygen worked over a round on the plough and was timed to run the last 1000m in 1:12.5, the last 600 in 42.3 while Polizzi was timed to run the last 600m of her 1000m workout in 42.3.

Foxalot clocked 1:12.5 for an easy 1000m on the plough, the last 600 in 43.3 and then ran another easy 600m on the grass in 45.4.

All Over Now ended her 1000m workout on the plough with 600m in 40.3 while Unfasten took 43 and 40.7 for two 600m runs on the plough.
