Moll Of Pentire and a Mongolian Falcon two-year-old filly, both members of Vicki Wilson’s stable, took the time honours at this morning’s Hastings track session when running a quick 600m together.
Fast work was carried out on the plough and wide out on the No.1 grass, with both tracks providing heavy footing after 52 millimetres of rain has fallen on the track since June 1.
Moll Of Pentire and the Mongolian Falcon two-year-old sprinted 600m on the plough in 36.1 and both horses were travelling keenly at the finish.
Moll Of Pentire has been unplaced in her three starts to date but could be ready to show some form while the Mongolian Falcon two-year-old filly looks a racy type and won a 400m jumpout by six lengths at Hastings a fortnight ago.
Manhattan Jazz, who could line up in the two-year-old race at Otaki this Friday, was not hurried when running 1000m in 1:11.6, the last 600 in 40.8 while Oxygen, another likely starter at Otaki, worked over a round on the plough and was timed to run the last 1000m in 1:13.4 and final 600 in 40.8.
An unnamed Mongolian Khan three-year-old from the Vicki Wilkson stable clocked 36.9 for a solo 600m on the plough while Foxalot and Briar worked together over 1000m on the grass in 1:10.7, the last 600 in 40.4.
Foxalot could start at Otaki on Friday while Briar may head to the Rotorua meeting on Sunday.
She’s Mischievous, who could start at Otaki this Friday, had trainer Fred Pratt aboard when running 1000m on the plough in 1:07.8, the last 600 in 37.7 while Unfasten, who is also entered for Otaki, ended her work with 600m in 42.1.
No Rock No Pop was not hurried when running 800m on the grass in 54.7, the last 600 in 39.9 and she looks to be coming up well again in a fresh preparation while Lilly The Filly clocked 1:06.4 for 1000m on the plough, the last 600 in 38.3.
Two Mongolian Falcon two-year-olds in Vicki Wilson’s stable worked together over 600m on the plough in 37.3 while The Mammoth ran a solo 1000m on the grass in 1:11.3, the last 600 in 41.2. He is a big five-year-old by Playmaker who won a 1200m heat at the last Hastings jumpouts.
