Hastings Trackwork - Tuesday 2 August
John Jenkins | August 02, 2022

Impressive last start winner Estefania hit out well on her own at this morning’s Hastings track session.

The majority of fast work was carried out on the plough, which provided soft footing.

Estefania had co-trainer Jordan Bassett aboard when working in from the 1000m peg in 1:12.6, coming home the last 600 in 42.1. The Darci Brahma mare looked to have plenty in reserve at the finish.

Estefania excels in heavy track conditions, as she showed when winning by 5 lengths over 1200m on her home track two weeks ago. She may now head to either Woodville on Friday of next week or Tauranga the day after.

New Orleans Jazz, being prepared for the maiden three-year-old race over 1200m at Woodville next week, was not hurried when running 1000m in 1:09.1, the last 600 in 40.2.

No Time To Jazz went quick in the early stages of her 1000m gallop , coming home the last 600 in 36.3 while the stablemates Written Up and Celtic Jazz worked in easily from the 1000m peg, running home the last 600 in 44.2.

Several horses from the Guy Lowry stable had easy 800m workouts in preparation for Hastings jumpouts on Thursday.

They included Love Letter and Unfasten, who ran 800m in 58, the last 600 in 40.8 while Podium and a Pins-Queen Aly four-year-old gelding from the same stable clocked 58.7 for 800m, the last 600 in 41.8.

Master Brewer had co-trainer Mick Brown aboard when running a solo 1000m in 1:16.4, the last 600 in 43.9 while Go Hugo clocked 1:09.8 for his 1000m gallop, the last 400m in 25.4.He won a 750m jumpout at Hastings two weeks ago.

Heartstopper was the only horse to work on the No. 1 grass and he hit out boldly over 1000m in 1:08.8, the last 600 in 38.3. He is building up to race fitness again after a long layoff.

Succeeder and an Ocean Park three-year-old gelding clocked 57.5 for their 800m workout, the last 600 in 41.6 while a Rip Van Winkle three-year-old and one by Per Incanto ran their last 600m in 42.9.

The Mammoth was keen to go faster when running a solo 800m inn58.4, the last 600 in 42.3 while Shezzacatch ended her work with 600m in 45.3.

All Over Now, one of several horses trainer Kate Hercock had at the session, was kept under a hold over 800m in 56.2, the last 600 in 41.6 while a Charm Spirit-Diplomacy three-year-old gelding and a Road Top Rock three-year-old ended their work with 600m in 41.3.

A Tivaci three-year-old gelding an a Per Incanto three-year-old filly, both in the Lowry stable, worked in easily from the 1000m peg and ran home the last 600 in 41.4.
