One Dream One Soul, preparing for the $22,000 Raukawa Cup (1400m) at Woodville on Thursday of next week, turned in a good solo workout at this morning’s Hastings track session.

Fast work was confined to the plough, which provided good footing.

One Dream One Soul worked in from the 800m peg in 52.1, running the first 200m in an easy 15.8s before quickening over the last 600 in 36.3.

The Ekraar mare turned in an excellent run for second over 1600m on the last day of the Hawke’s Bay spring carnival and has obviously trained on well since.

Karehana Bay is another who looks to have thrived since his last start third over 1200m at Woodville on October 17 and this morning he worked well on his own over 800m in 53.8, the last 600 in 37.9. He will probably line up in a maiden race at Awapuni this Saturday.

His stablemate Hunta Pence is also entered for Saturday’s Awapuni meeting and he stretched out well over 800m in 51.1, the last 600 in 36.4. He hasn’t raced since April and will resume in the 1400m open sprint after a close second in a 750m jumpout at Hastings last week.

Courvoisier sprinted the last 600m of her work in 36.8 and The Proisir filly won a 750m jumpout at Hastings last week.

New Orleans Jazz worked in from the 1000m peg in 1:03.7, running the first 400m in 27.9 before quickening appreciably over the last 600 in 35.8 while stablemate Manhattan Jazz worked over the same distance I 1:06.5, the last 600 in 38.9.

Cheney, preparing for the maiden 1600m race at Woodville next week, was another who worked well on her own when clocking 52.5 for 800m, the last 600 in 36.8.

Oxygen worked over a round and was timed to run the last 1200m in 1:20.8, the final 600 in 36.6 while his stablemate Me clocked 1:08.4 for an easy 1000m, the last 600 in 39.6.

A Mongolian Khan four-year-old mare was keen to go a lot faster when hard held over 800m in 54.6, the last 600 in 39.3 while a Redwood three-year-old filly and one by Complacent sprinted 600m together in 37.1.
