One Dream One Soul showed she has trained on the right way since her unlucky last start run by turning in an excellent solo workout at this morning’s Hastings track session.
Fast work was confined to the plough, which provided good footing.
One Dream One Soul worked in from the 1000m peg in 1:07, running the first 400m in an easy 30.4s before quickening appreciably over the last 600 in 36.6.
The Ekraar was a last start third in the Waipukurau Cup (1600m) at Hastings on November 11 and may have finished closer had she not received a severe check 300m from the finish. She will now line up in a Rating 75 race over 1600m at the next Hastings meeting, on December 7.
Duncan Creek was another who worked well this morning when running 1000m in 1:04.7, the last 600 in 36.9. He has not had much luck in most of his races and is entered for the Group 1 Levin Classic (1600m) at Otaki this Thursday.
The stablemates Pep Torque and Real Slim Tradie worked together over 1000m in 1:09.5, running the first 400m in an easy 30.6 before speeding up slightly over the last 600 in 38.9.
Pep Torque is also entered for this Thursday’s Otaki meeting but trainer Kirsty Lawrence said the horse will only start if the track is no worse than a soft-7.
Real Slim Tradie will head to Trentham on Saturday week for a Rating 75 race over 1400m.
Je Swey was another who worked well on her own when running 800m in 50.3, the last 600 in 36.1. She is a three-year-old by Sweynesse in the Lee Somervell stable and finished second in a 750m jumpout at Hastings last week. She is likely to resume in a maiden 1200m race at Hastings on December 7.
Secret Falls was given two 600m workouts, the first taking 39s and the second in 36.1. She is another who is likely to start next at the Hawke’s Bay meeting on December 7.
The Stoney One went quick in the early stages of his 1000m workout and was slowing towards the finish. He clocked 1:09.6 for the full distance, the last 600 in 42.
Courvoisier recorded 51.4 for a solo 800m, the last 600 in 37.2 while Zappa Jak and Indulge Me worked together over 1000m and were timed to run home the last 800m in 52.4, the final 600 in 37.7.
Lilly The Filly had trainer Fred Pratt aboard when scampering over 600m in 35.8 while a Mongolian Khan four-year-old mare in the McKenzie/Bassett stable ran a solo 1000m in 1:05.1, the last 600 in 38.2.
A Trapeze Artist two-year-old and one by Mongolian Khan, both in the Guy Lowry stable, ran 800m together in 54, the last 600 in 39.8 while a Road To Rock three-year-old and one by Time Test from the same stable clocked 1:09.3 for 1000m, the last 600 in 40.2.
Podium was let off with an easy 600m in 40.9. She looks to have thrived since her impressive fresh up win at Hastings on November 13 and will now head to Trentham on Saturday week for a Rating 65 race over 1400m.
Sharky was given an easy 1000m workout, the last 600 in 42.4 and he heads to the Foxton trials next Tuesday while Zakra recorded 1:13.3 for an easy 1000m, the last 600 in 40.2.
A Darwin four-year-old mare in the Lowry stable ran 800m in 52.2, the last 600 in 39 while a Toronado three-year-old filly in the same stable ended an easy 1000m workout with 600m in 39.6.
