Podium and Can I Get An Amen, both preparing for Saturday’s Wellington meeting, worked strongly together at today’s Hastings trackwork session.
Fast work was confined to the plough, which provided good footing.
Podium and Can I Get An Amen worked in from the 1000m peg at three-quarter pace, quickening over the last 600 in 37.9. Both horses were travelling strongly at the finish.
Podium has obviously trained on well since her impressive fresh up win over 1200m at Hastings on November 13 and will line up in the Rating 75 race over 1400m on Saturday while Can I Get An Amen will contest the Open 1200m event.
Real Slim Tradie, another heading to Trentham on Saturday, worked early in the session with stablemate Pep Torque. They also worked over 1000m at strong work but weren’t timed.
Real Slim Tradie was a good fourth over 1300m at Te Rapa last start and will step up to 1400m in a Rating 75 race on Saturday.
Reply and Mr Bully Tee, two horses in the Thompson/Brown stable, turned in the quickest gallops of the morning.
Reply started slightly behind Mr Bully Tee when they left the 1000m mark and they finished on terms. Reply was timed to run the 1000m in 59.1 while Mr Bully Tee clocked 60.8 and they both came home the last 600m in 34.8. Both horses are likely starters at next week’s Hawke’s Bay meeting.
The Stoney One and Love Letter also worked over 1000m and recorded 1:08.4. They ran the first 400m in an easy 30.4 before quickening over the last 600 in 38. The Stoney One is entered for the Rating 65 race over 1200m at Trentham on Saturday while Love Letter is in the Rating 65 1600m race at the same venue.
No Bid turned in a good solo effort when running 1000m in 1:03.7, the last 600 in 36.3 and he is another who could line up at the Hawke’s Bay twilight meeting on Wednesday of next week.
She’s Miss Gevious and Ravenna Rose, both trained by Fred Pratt and Caitlin Johnson, clocked 52.9 for 800m, running the first 200m at three-quarter pace before quickening over the last 600 in 37.2.
Red ‘N’ Surf ended his work with a 600m sprint in 37 while a grey Mongolian Falcon three-year-old gelding in the Vicki Wilson stable clocked 37.6 for his 600m sprint.
Matinee and a Zacinto gelding, both trained by Kate Hercock, ran an easy 600m together in 39.9 while a Redwood three-year-old gelding trained by Vicki Wilson ran 600m in 38.1.
Another Mongolian Falcon three-year-old gelding in the Wilson stable recorded 39.1 for his 600m while Zakra ended his work with an easy 600m in 43.3.
