Last start winner Free Bee, preparing for Saturday’s Wellington meeting, turned in an excellent solo gallop at this morning’s Hastings track session.
Fast work was confined to the plough, which was conducive to fast times.
Free Bee had co-trainer Mick Brown aboard when running 800m on her own in 49.5, the first 200m taking 13.4 and the last 600 in 36.1.
The Rageese mare recorded her fourth win from only 10 starts when taking out a Rating 75 race over 1400m at Hastings on New Years Eve and will contest the $30,000 Rating 75 race over 1200m at Trentham. Promising apprentice Tayla Mitchell will again have the mount.
The Stoney One and Love Letter, two others entered for Trentham on Saturday, worked together and were let stride out over the last 600m but were not timed. Both horses look in great order for their assignments, with The Stoney One entered for the Rating 75 race over 1200m and Love Letter in the Rating 75 race over 1600m.
One Dream One Soul worked well on her own over 1000m in 1:05.4, the last 600 in 36.6 and she has trained on well since her last start over 2200m at Hastings on December 31, where she was forced to cover plenty of extra ground in the running.
Jameson and No Bizz, both in the Nelson/McDougal stable, worked together over 1200m in 1:20.2, running the first 600m in an easy 43.6 before quickening over the last 600 in 36.6.
Deva Dynasty was let off with an easy workout when running 1000m in 1:12.3, the last 600 in 41.7 while stablemate Speakeasy underwent similar work when running 1000m in 1:11.2, the last 600 in 41.9.
Deva Dynasty certainly deserves to break through for a maiden win after unlucky minor placings in her last two starts.
Zakra worked in from the 1200m peg in 1:21.9, running the first 600 in an easy 45.1 before quickening appreciably over the last 600 in 36.8.
Me worked over a round on his own and was timed to run the last 1200m in 1:21.3 and final 600 in 37.9. He could start next at Hastings next month.
No Bid clocked 1:05.8 for a solo 1000m, the last 600 in 36.3 while Foxalot worked in from the 1200m peg and was timed to run the last 1000m in 1:04.5, the final 600 in 36.4.
A Tivaci-Strolling Vagabond two-year-old and one by War Decree, both in the Guy Lowry stable, worked easily together over 800m in 57.2, the last 600 in 41.5.
