John Jenkins | February 07, 2023

A good solo gallop by One Dream One Soul and a solid workout by the stablemates Moonlight Hustler and Makkaldee were the highlights at this morning’s Hastings track session.

Fast work was confined to the plough, which provided good footing.

One Dream One Soul worked in from the 1000m peg in 1:06.8, running the first 400m at three-quarter pace before sprinting home the last 600 in 35.8. The Iffraaj mare has been freshened since racing over 2200m at Hastings on New Year’s Eve and will line up in the Rating 75 race over 1400m at Hastings this Friday.

Last start winner Moonlight Hustler worked with stablemate Makkaldee over 1000m in 1:04.6 and they came home the last 600 in 36.2s, with both horses working well at the finish. They will both contest the Rating 65 race over 2100m at Hastings on Friday.

Shezzacatch sprinted 600m on her own in 36s. The Savabeel mare looks to have trained on well since finishing fourth in the Group 1 Telegraph Sprint (1200m) on January 14 and is entered for the open sprint over 1200m at Hastings on Friday.

Free Thyme was not hurried when running a solo 1000m in 1:08.7, the last 600 in 39.5. He has recorded a third and a fourth in his last two starts and could break through for a maiden win at Hastings on Friday.

Free Bee had co-trainer Mick Brown aboard when running an easy 800m in 56.1, the last 600 in 40.9 and she contests the Rating 75 race over 1400m at Hastings on Friday.

Sunday Fever was under a hard ride over the final stages of his workout over a round, running home the last 1000m in 1:05 and final 600 in 37.2 while Matt Cain clocked 1:08.1 for his 1000m workout, the last 600 in 38.1.
