Hastings Trackwork - Tuesday 21 Feb
John Jenkins | February 21, 2023

Impressive solo gallops by Bold Iris and One Dream One Soul were among the highlights at this morning’s Hastings track session.

Fast work was confined to the plough, which provided good footing.

Bold Iris was one of eight horses trainer John Bary brought into the track to gallop and she hit out strongly over 1000m in 1:02.9, coming home the last 600 in 35.6. It was excellent work from the daughter of The Bold One.

One Dream One Soul also hit out well when clocking 1:02.7 for 1000m, the last 600 in 35.1 and she pulled up in great order. The Iffraaj mare will be entered for the Rating 75 race over 1600m at Hastings next Wednesday.

Pegau and Lilly Laguna, two others from the Bary stable, also worked well when running 1000m together in 1:01.5, the last 600 in 36.5. Pegau had to overcome a slow start before finishing strongly for second over 1300m at Tauherenikau last start while Lilly Laguna was a close fifth over 1600m at Hastings last start.

Stablemates Duncan Creek and Karehana Bay worked in from the 800m peg in 51.9, running the first 200m in an easy 15.8s before quickening over the last 600 in 36.1. Duncan Creek is a likely starter in the three-year-old 1400m race at Hastings next week.

Rockburn and Lavita Vishvi worked together over 1000m in 1:04.2 but fog prevented any sectional times being taken.

Rockburn lines up in the Rating 75 race over 2000m at Matamata this Saturday as a lead up to the Group 1 New Zealand Derby (2400m) at Te Rapa the following Saturday.

Mr Bully Tee, in his first serious test since resuming from a spell, worked with No Bid over 1000m in 1:07.7, the last 600 in 36.9 while a Mongolian Khan three-year-old filly clocked 52.2 for 800m, the last 600 in 37.7.

Love Letter worked over a round on her own, clocking 1:20.8 for the last 1200m, the final 600 in 39.1.

Chance and a Time Test three-year-old gelding, both trained by John Bary, ran 1000m in 1:11.9, the last 600 in 39.3 while their stablemate Baileys On Ice ran a solo 1000m in 1:06.1, the last 600 in 38.5.

An Echoes Of Heaven four-year-old mare trained by Patrick Campbell worked in easily from the 1000m peg before quickening over the last 600 in 37.8 while Sunday Fever ran the last 600m of his work in 36s.
