Karehana Bay turned in one of the quickest gallops at this morning’s Hastings track session.
Fast work was confined to the plough, which provided soft footing.
Trainer John Bary brought a team of eight horses into the track to work but opted not to disclose their names when asked.
Karehana Bay worked in from the 1000m peg on his own, running the last 800m in 49.5 and final 600 in 36.7. He has been a shade disappointing in recent starts but was not far away when fifth over 1600m at Tauherenikau last start.
Free Bee ended her work with a 400m sprint in 25.4s and looked to be striding out well at the finish. She was a well beaten 10th at Trentham last start but her form before that was good and she has been freshened slightly.
Rum, who could start in a Rating 60 race over 1400m at Woodville next Monday, went quick in the early stages of his solo 800m workout, running the first 200m in 12.1s before coming home the last 600 in 36.9. Trainer Patrick Campbell has had the horse competing in equestrian events lately in the hope that this will help spark him up in his races.
Revina Rose, a likely runner at the Awapuni meeting on April 14, was not hurried when running a solo 1000m in 1:11.6, the last 600 in 42.7.
Call Me Jack had jockey Kate Hercock aboard when working on his own over 1000m in 1:09.4, the last 600 in 39.4. He showed ability last winter and owner-trainer Tim Symes is waiting for the wet tracks to arrive before stepping him out again.
Gincident, a member of the Thompson/Brown stable, worked on her own over 1000m in 1:11.4, the last 600 in 40.5. She is a four-year-old by Vadamos.
Bedtime Story and a filly by The Autumn Sun, both in Guy Lowry’s stable, worked in at three-quarter pace from the 1000m peg, clocking 43s for the last 600 while stablemates Tea For Two and Epirama underwent similar work and also recorded 43s for their last 600m.
