A two-year-old colt by I Am Invincible in the John Bary stable scored one of the most impressive wins at today’s Hastings jumpouts.

There were seven heats run down on the inside part of the course proper, where the footing was soft.

The I Am Invincible colt contested the first of the 750m heats and bounced out brilliantly from the barrier before being restrained by jockey Jonathan Riddell to sit outside the leader to the turn.

Once in the home straight the colt lengthened stride with just a minimum of urging and raced clear to win by 3-1/2 lengths, clocking 48s.

Other good winners were Gincident and Waft while talented galloper Wewillrock finished a good second in his heat without being pressured.

Gincident clocked the fastest time of the three 1000m heats when winning by a neck in a time of 59.69. She is a Vadamoss five-year-old mare in the Mick Brown and Sue Thompson stable who finished fourth on debut at Hastings last month and then struggled on a soft-6 track at Otaki last start.

Waft is an unraced two-year-old filly by All Too Hard in the Guy Lowry and Leah Zydenbos stable and she looked good when racing away for a three length win in her 1000m heat.

Wewillrock finished half a length behind Free Thyme in a 750m heat but could have easily won the jumpout had rider Jonathan Riddell asked him for a serious effort. The El Roca five-year-old was a winner in Sydney last winter and looks to be coming up well in a fresh campaign.
