John Jenkins | December 10, 2024

Good workouts by La Dulcin’ee and the stablemates Sol De Otono and Waihaha Falls were the highlghts at this morning’s Hastings trackwork session.

Fast work was confined to the plough, which provided good footing.

La Dulcin’ee worked in from the 800m peg in 52.5, running the first 200m in an easy 15.4 before quickening appreciably over the last 600 in 37.1 and was full of running at the finish.

The Per Incanto mare was impressive when winning an 850m trial at Waipukurau at the end of October and then covered a lot of extra ground when fourth over 1000m at Tauherenikau on November 10. She is likely to start next in a maiden 1200m race at Otaki on Thursday of next week.

Sol De Otono and Waihaha Falls also worked in from the 800m peg and clocked 52.2, quickening over the last 600 in 37.8. Sol De Otono is likely to resume from a lengthy break in a maiden 1300m race at Trentham on Sunday while Waihaha Falls will be entered for the Open 1200m race here but will only start if there is some easing in track conditions.

The Stoney One worked on his own over 800m in 51.1, the last 600 in 38 and is a likely starter in the Open 1200m race at Trentham on Sunday.

Poukawa was let off with an easy 800m in 56.7, the ast 600 in 41.7 and he is unlikely to start again until the Trentham meeting on December 21.

Fancy Like Lass was kept to just three-quarter pace oiver 800m in 59.4, the last 600 in 44.2. She finished a close third in an open 900m heat at the Taupo trials on November 26 and could resume racing in an Open 1100m race on the middle day of the Wellington Cup meeting.

Sunshine Ale was let off with just three-quarter pace when running 800m in 58.2, the last 600 in 42 while Snowflake was assigned similar work, running the last 600m in 43.2.

Piccalilli and Celebrity, two horses in the Thompson/Brown stable, ended their work with 400m in 27.3. Piccalilli finished third in a 1000m trial at Woodville last week.
