A strong solo workout by Prestissimo was the highlight in a noticeably quiet trackwork session at Hastings today.

There were few horses worked with several from the centre having competed at Monday’s Waipukurau jumpouts and others heading to the Foxton trials later in the day.

Working on the firm plough, Prestissimo worked over 1000m in 1:04.3, running the first 400m in 27.4 before quickening over the last 600 in 36.9.

The Time Test filly was hitting out well at the finish and may head to Tauherenikau on Sunday for a Rating 65 race over 1600m.

Nozumi, another who could start at Tauherenikau, had co-trainer Mick Brown aboard when running a solo 1200m. He was kept under a hold and clocked 1:31.1, the last 600 in 40.9.

Mount Cook and Snapback, two other horses in the Thompson/Brown stable, worked together over 600m in 38.2 while Meritable and Creation also worked nicely together when running 600m in 38.3.

Bedtime Story, a likely contender for the Listed Lisa Chittick Champagne Stakes (1400m) at Matamata on Saturday, was one of several horses restricted to just two rounds of pacework.
