TRACKWORK | 11 JUNE 2024
John Jenkins | June 11, 2024

A dense blanket of fog covered the Hastings track for most of today’s Hastings trackwork session, preventing the timing of most fast work.

Written Up and Pepperoni, two horses trained by Dean Howard, were timed to run 800m on the plough in 54.6, the last 600 in 40.3.

Written Up has not raced since July last year but has been in work for several weeks now and finished second in a 1000m jumpout at Hastings last week. He may resume at the Awapuni synthetic track meeting on June 21.

Paradis worked over a round and was timed to run the last 1200m in 1:27.4. The Complacent mare has not raced since finishing second over 2100m at Trentham on May 25 but has been kept right up to the mark in training and her connections are just waiting for another heavy track.

Poukawa and Speed Dial, two talented gallopers in the Lowry/Zydenbos stable, are back in full work and were timed to run an easy 600m in 45s while another member of the stable, Gohugo, ended his work with an easy 600m in 43.4.

Nozumi had co-trainer Mick Brown aboard when working in from the 1000m peg in 1:10.6, running home the last 600 in 40.1. He is a three-year old gelding by Tarzino who finished a close second in a 1000m Foxton trial last month.

Waft and a Rubick two-year-old filly in the Lowry/Zydenbos stable ran an easy 600m in 45.9s
