A fast solo gallop by Trentham candidate Fancy Like Lass was the highlight in a quiet trackwork session at Hastings today.

There was little in the way of fast work, with several horses from the centre entered for the Foxton trials later in the day.

Fancy Like Lass had co-trainer Sue Thompson aboard when sprinting 1000m on the plough in 1:01.5, the first 400 in 25.8 and the last 600 in a quick 35.7.

The Hellbent mare looks in great order and will line up in the $65,000 Open 1100m race at Trentham on Saturday. She recorded a winning double down the Trentham chute this time last year.

Kayzino, preparing for the Maiden 1600m race at Wanganui next Monday, worked in at three-quarter pace from the 600m peg and was let sprint home the last 400m in 26.6. She hasn’t raced for six months but finished fourth in a 1000m Foxton trial at the beginning of last month.

Father Ted was not hurried when running 1000m in 1:10.7, the last 600 in 41.1 while Gohugo was let off with two rounds of pacework after finishing sixth over 1200m at Wanganui last Saturday.

He is likely to return to Wanganui next Monday for a Rating 75 race over 1340m.
