A dense blanket of fog covered the Hastings racetrack for the entire trackwork session today preventing the timing of any gallops.

There was little in the way of fast work anyway as a large number of horses from the centre were entered for the Waipukurau jumpouts later in the day.

Meritable, who is a likely starter in the Open 1200m race at Trentham on Saturday, had co-trainer Mick Brown aboard when given a 1000m gallop and looked to be stretching out well at the finish. The Snitzel six-year-old resumed from a lengthy spell with a good fourth over 1200m at Hawera last week.

The Stoney One, another entered for the Open 1200m race at Trentham, also worked on his own and finished full of running at the end of 800m.

Meltemi was another who galloped, finishing her work off with a sharp 600m sprint.
