A fast solo gallop by Fonsi was one of the highlights at this morning’s Hastings trackwork session.

Fast work was confined to the plough which provided firm footing.

Fonsi worked strongly over 1000m in 1:01.5, running the first 400m in 26s before quickening over the last 600 in 35.5.

The Shamexpress gelding has not raced since finishing seventh when fresh up over 1300m at Hastings on September 7 and is entered for a Rating 65 race over  1400m at Otaki this Saturday.

Gohugo, another likely runner at Otaki, worked strongly with stablemate Testwin and they were timed to run 1000m in 1:02, the last 600 in 36.3.

Gohugo needed the run when resuming from a spell over 1400m at Matamata on October 2 and should strip a lot fitter this Saturday.

Satomi, who heads to Waverley on Sunday for the maiden 2200m race, worked over a round and was let sprint home the last 600 in 25.9.

Wish Me Well and Makkaldee, two horses from Danny Champion’s stable likely to start at Waverley on Sunday, worked easily together over 1200m in 1:24.7, the last 600 in 40.2 while Free Bee was not hurried when running 800m in 57.1, the last 600 in 40.3.

Kalledu Thunder and Hollywood Drift, two horses in the Lowry/Zydenbos stable, worked in from the 1000m peg in 1:05, running the first 400m in an easy 29.3 before quickening appreciably over the last 600 in 35.7.

Kalledu Thunder is a three-year-old by Vadamos who won a 1000m Foxton trial on October 1 and is likely to make his race debut at Otaki this Saturday.

Matinee and a Super Easy four-year-old gelding worked together over 1200m in 1:27.5, running the fist 600m at three-quarter pace before coming home the last 600 in 40.5.

Carbon Credit cocked 55.1 for 800m, running the first 200 at three-quarter pace before quickening marginally over the last 600 in 39.1.

Little Miss Muffet ran a solo 1000m in 1:08.9, the last 600 in 37.6 while The Stoney One was kept to just three-quarter pace over 800m.

A Time Test three-year-old filly trained by Richard McKenzie and Jordan Basset sprinted the last 400m of her work in 26.6 while a Per Incanto-Shandream three-year-old filly in the Lowry/Zydenbos stable ran a solo 800m in 54.5, the last 600 in 40.3.
