Good workouts by several members of the Thompson/Brown stable highlighted this morning’s Hastings trackwork session.
Fast work was confined to the plough and dense fog prevented sectional timing of some of the gallops.
Half Share and an Exceedance three-year-old gelding, both in the Thompson/Brown stable, were both striding out well at the end of 1000m in 1:05.7. Half Share is an Embellish three-year-old gelding who finished fourth in a Foxton 1000m trial in May while the Exceedance gelding has also only had a limited preparation to date. Both are likely to have a run at the Waipukurau trials on September 29.
Abbeytakesitall and a Vanbrugh three-year-old gelding, two others trained by Mick Brown and Sue Thompson, worked well together over 800m in 52, running the first 200m in 13.5 before coming home the last 600 in 38.5.
Abeecee, a likely starter on the second day of the Hawke’s Bay Spring Carnival on Saturday week, had trainer Caitlin Johnson aboard when running a solo 1000m in 1:13.8, the last 600 in 42.7 while Creation was timed to run 1200m on his own in 1:32.6. He is another likely to have a run at the Waipukurau trials.
Buzzy Bee was not hurried when running a solo 1000m in 1:11.5, the last 600 in 40.7 while Basilthegreek ran over the same ground in 1:09.5, the last 600 in 41.6.
A US Navy Flag three-year-old gelding and a three-year-old filly by The Chosen One, both in the Thompson/Brown stable, clocked 51.9 for a solid workout over 800m, the last 600 in 37.6 while Mount Cook was kept under a hold when running a solo 1000m in 1:13.
Adira’s Way and a Derryn three-year-old gelding worked in from the 800m peg and were timed to run home the last 600 in 45.5 while a Per Incanto three-year-old filly and a three-year-old gelding by The Bold One clocked 55.5 for 800m.
