Good solo gallops by Spark and La Dulcin’ee were among the highlights at this morning’s Hastings trackwork session.
Fast work was confined to the plough, which provided good footing.
Spark worked early in the session and clocked 51.9 for 800m, coming home strongly over the last 600 in 38.2 and was full of running at the finish.
The Time Test three-year-old filly recorded two seconds and a fourth from three starts early this season and was an easy winner of a 1000m trial at Foxton on March 3. She is likely to resume in a maiden 1000m race at Tauherenikau this Sunday.
Last start winner La Dulcin’ee also worked on her own over 800m in 51.9, the last 600 in 37.5 and would hardly have blown a match out after the workout. She is also likely to head to Tauherenikau on Sunday where she will contest a Rating 65 race over 1300m.
Vincero and Bar Room worked together over 1000m in 1:06.5, running the first 400m in an easy 28.8 before quickening appreciably over the last 600 in 37.7.
Vincero will contest the maiden three-year-old 1600m race at Tauherenikau on Sunday while there is a chance Bar Room will also race at the same meeting.
Katsu was another who looked to be stretching out well at the end of her 1000m workout, running home the last 600 in 39. She has recorded two good second placings from two starts and will get a chance to break through for a maiden win over 1400m at Tauherenikau.
Trust Alone worked over a round and was timed to run the last 1000m in 1:08.1, the last 600 in 40.4. Trainer Aaron Bidlake said the Preferment mare will either contest the New Zealand St Leger (2500m) at Trentham on Saturday or line up at Tauherenikau the day after.
Basilthegreek, another who is likely to start at Tauherenikau, ran a solo 1000m in 1:05.5, the last 600 in 37.6. He showed a marked improvement last start when finishing a close second over 2050m on the Tauherenikau track.
Carbon Credits finished ahead of Explora Dora at the end of 800m in 55.5, running the first 200m in an easy 16s before coming home the last 600 in 39.5.
Popsicles worked on her own over 1000m in 1:10.3, the last 600 in 40 while Ocean Beau recorded 1:09.6 when running over the same distance, the last 600 in 39.3.
Touch Of Paradise worked over 1000m in 1:06.7. He will contest a maiden 1600m race at Tauherenikau as he prepares for a return to jumping later in the season.
Buzzy Bee worked over a round on his own and was timed to run the last 1200m in 1:31.3 and final 600 in 44.3.
Will worked over 1000m at three-quarter pace, running the last 600 in 44.6 while an O’Reilly’s Choice three-year-old filly ended an easy workout with 600m in 43.1.
