Talented mare Bedtime Story showed she is coming up well in a new preparation when she turned in a quick solo gallop at tis morning’s Hastings track session.
Fast work was mainly confined to the plough (soft), with one gallop timed on the No.1 grass (firm).
Bedtime Story clocked 51s for her 800m gallop on the plough and was stretching out well over the last 600m in 37.2. The Per Incanto four-year-old was the winner of three races from only seven starts last season and should be in for another successful campaign. She is likely to have a jumpout at Hastings on September 30.
Anaroa is another who turned in a good solo gallop when running over 1000m on the plough in 1:05, running the first 400m in 27.7 before quickening over the last 600 in 37.3. He needed the run when resuming on the first day of the Hawke’s Bay Spring Carnival and is likely to start next in a Rating 65 race over 1600m at Te Rapa on Friday of next week.
Wewillrock is another horse from the Lowry/Zydenbos stable likely to race at Te Rapa next week, where he will contest the Open 1200m sprint. He was to have raced at Wanganui this Saturday but track conditions are likely to be too heavy there.
This morning he was timed to run a solo 1000m in 1:04.6, the last 400 in 23s.
Stablemates Duncan Creek and Fonsi worked well together over 800m on the plough in 54.4, the last 600 in 37.7. Fonsi is likely to contest the Rating 65 race over 1400m on the second day of the Hawke’s Bay Spring Carnival, on Saturday week.
Testwin, another likely starter at Hastings on Saturday week, was not hurried when running a solo 1000m in 1:09.9, the last 600 in 39.4. He looks to have trained on well since his fresh up run on the first day of the Hawke’s Bay carnival.
Written Up was the only horse timed on the no.1 grass and he worked over 1000m in 1:09.2, the last 600 in 38.8.
Candle worked in at three-quarter pace from the 800m peg on the plough and quickened slightly over the last 600 in 39 while Speed Dial did similar work over 1000m, running the last 600 in 39.1. They could both start at Hastings on Saturday week but co-trainer Guy Lowry said Speed Dial needs some easing in track conditions.
Eyegeegee recorded 38.9 and 37.8 for two good 600m sprints. He was one of several horses the Lowry/Zydenbos stable were going to start at Wanganui this Saturday but will instead head to Te Rapa on Friday week for a Rating 65 race over 2100m.
Just Looking, who could start at Waverley this Sunday, worked with Bull Paki over 1000m in 1:06.9, the last 600 in 39 while Matinee worked over 1000m on her own in 1:07.7, the last 600 in 39.4. She is likely to race next at the Woodville meeting on September 29.
Zaravela, another likely starter at Woodville, over 1000m in 1:09 and came home the last 600 in 39.6. She is a Time Test mare trained by Danny Champion and has been placed five times from 12 starts.
She’s A Crusher took 1:07.5 for an easy 1000m, the last 600 in 39.2 while Makkaldee worked over the same distance in 1:09, the last 600 in 39.3.
Moonlight Hustler had trainer Danny Champion aboard when running 800m in 55, the last 600 in 40.7. She could start next at either Hastings on Saturday week or Woodville the day after.
Free Bee ended her work with an easy 600m in 42.8 while Little Miss Muffet was not hurried when running 800m in 56.6, the last 600 in 41.4.
