Good solo gallops by Tulsa King and Prestissimo were among the highlights at this morning’s Hastings trackwork session.
Fast work was carried out on the plough and No.1 grass, both tracks providing heavy footing after 45 millimetres of rainfall on the track in the last week.
Tulsa King worked over 1000m on the plough in 1:05.6, running the first 400m in an easy 28.3 before quickening appreciably over the last 600 in 37.3.
The Staphanos gelding finished third in a 1200m jumpout at Hastings last weekend and will be entered for the Rating 65 race over 1600m at this Saturday’s Hawke’s Bay meeting.
Prestissimo had co-trainer Jordan Bassett aboard when running 1000m on the No.1 grass in 1:09.3, the last 600 in 37.4. She hasn’t raced since finishing a close second over 1400m at Waverley on July 24 and could start next in a Rating 60 race over 1400m at Hawera on Sunday.
Testwin and Exit Left worked together and both were kept under a hold over 800m on the grass, clocking 41.7 for the last 600. Both horses were impressive winners at last week’s Hastings jumpouts and could resume at Hastings on Saturday.
Zorero was kept under a good hold when working on his own over 800m in 58.2, the last 600 in 39. He is another who won a jumpout at Hastings last week and could resume in the Rating 65 race over 1200m at Hastings on Saturday.
Sicarius worked on the plough and was timed to run his last 800m in 52.9, the last 600 in 38.4. He could line up in the maiden 1600m race at Hastings on Saturday.
A Mongolian Falcon-Jewel three-year-old clocked 54.6 for 800m on the plough, the last 600 in 38.7 while a Derryn three-year-old gelding trained by Tayla Hall ended his work with 600m in 39.8.
Basilthegreek worked over 1000m on the plough in 1:12, the last 600 in 41.2 while Jackie Stewart ran an easy 600m on the grass in 43.7.
Carbon Credit ended his work with 600m in 45.1.
