TRACKWORK | 2 SEPTEMBER 2025
John Jenkins | September 02, 2025

There was little in the way of fast work at today’s Hastings trackwork session with most horses restricted to just three-quarter pace on the plough.

Testwin, preparing for Saturday’s Otaki meeting, was let off with just a round of trotting in the centre and a round of half-pace on the plough. He had a strong track gallop last Saturday and looks to have trained on the right way since his last start win in a Rating 65 race over 1200m at  Taupo. He will contest another Rating 65 race over 1200m at Otaki with Jonathan Riddell booked to ride him.

Poukawa worked on his own when running an easy 800m in 59.2, the last 600 in 41.5. He looks to be coming up well in a fresh campaign and will have a jumpout at Levin next week.

Flying Angel and Tulsa King worked together over 800m in 56.3, the last 600 in 40 And Flying Angel is another who could have a jumpout next week.

Briar, who will contest the maiden 2100m race at Woodville on Sunday, worked with an Embellish three-year-old over 600m in 42.1 while Pinker ran a solo 800m in 59.3. He is a Mongolian Khan four-year-old gelding in the Lowry/Zydenbos stable.

Asha, another in the Lowry/Zydenbos stable, clocked 56.1 for an easy 800m, the last 600 in 41.8 while a Tivaci three-year-old gelding ended his work with 600m in 41.7.

Little Auspicious had trainer Cailin Johnson aboard when running a solo 800m in 56.5, the last 600 in 40.4 while a Time Test three-year-old gelding in the Lowry/Zydenbos stable ran the last 600m of his work in 42.1.
