Say I Do, a likely starter on the Awapuni synthetic track this Sunday, recorded a quick 600m gallop at today’s Hastings trackwork session.
Fast work was confined to the plough, which provided good footing.
Say I Do was at full stretch when she left the 600m peg and finished her work off strongly when recording 35.8s. The Pierro mare has not raced since finishing fourth over 1600m at Tauherenikau in February but has had to trials since then to fit her for a fresh up assignment.
Hello Hero, another likely starter at Awapuni on Sunday, was given two 600m gallops, the first one in 40.6 and the second one much faster, in 37.8. She turned in a much improved effort for third over 1600m at Wanganui last start and will step up to 1700m on Sunday.
Zappa Jak worked with Flying Angel over 1000m in 1:06.1, with both horses coming home strongly over the last 600 in 37s. Zappa Jak is a past winner on the Awapuni synthetic track and will contest a 1700m race there on Sunday.
Agent Orange ran a solo 1200m in 1:19.8, running the first 600m in an easy 42s before quickening over the last 600 in 37.8 while stablemate Can Johnny Be Good was keen in the early stages of his workout before running home the last 1000m in 1:08.5 and final 600 in 40.9.
Exit Left had co-trainer Mick Brown aboard when running an easy 1000m in 1:12.4, the last 600 in 41.2. He showed good potential earlier this season and looks to have come back well after a spell.
Snowflake was not hurried when running the last 600m of her work in 41s. She ruined her chances by being very slow away when finishing fourth over 1360m at Wanganui last start and will return to the same venue for another maiden race on Saturday week.
Wave, one of several horses in the Lowry/Zydenbos stable heading to the Foxton trials next Tuesday, clocked 41.2 for 600m while Curtsy and Celebrity work together over the same distance in 41.4.
Justadude was given two 800m workouts. He worked keenly over the first one in 49.9, the last 600 in 36.6 but was much slower over the second one, clocking 55.1, the last 600 in 41.7.
A Belardo three-year-old gelding in the Lowry/Zydenbos stable recorded 41.8 for an easy 600m while Asher who is a Shocking three-year-old filly in the same stable, worked easily over the same distance in 43.5.
