Exit Left was the only horse to gallop at this morning’s Hastings trackwork session.

More than 25 millimetres of rain had fallen on the Hastings track since the weekend and most trainers elected to restrict their horses to pacework on the grass track in the centre.

Exit Left, preparing for the Rating 75 race over 1400m at Otaki on Saturday, worked in from the 1200m peg on the heavy No.1 grass and was timed to run home the last 1000m in 1:05.8 and final 600 in 38.2.

The Turn Me Loose gelding’s chances were ruined when he knuckled over at the start when seventh over 1400m at Waverley last start and that followed a good win over 1200m on a heavy track at Wanganui. Apprentice Floor Moerman will again ride the horse on Saturday.
