Meridivaci, preparing for the maiden 1800m race at Taupo on Sunday, worked well on his own at this morning’s Hastings trackwork session.

There was very little in the way of fast work, with several horses from the centre entered for the Levin jumpouts later in the day.

Meridivaci worked over a round on the plough. He was timed to run the last 1200m in 1:25.4, quickening as he went to come home the last 600 in 38.3.

The Tivaci three-year-old was a last start fifth over 1600m at Tauherenikau on December 10 and will step up to 1800m at Taupo.

Sunshine Ale was kept under a hold when running a solo 800m in 56.7, the last 600 in 41.6. She was a close fourth over 1600m at Tauherenikau last start and will race next at Otaki on January 9.

Bedtime Story and Spark worked early in the session over 1000m but the gallop wasn’t timed. Spark needed the run when second over 1000m at Trentham on December 14, in her first race for three months. She should be hard to beat in the three-year-old maiden race over 1200m at Taupo on Sunday.
