Testwin, preparing for Sunday’s Waverley meeting, turned in a good solo workout in a quiet trackwork session at Hastings on Tuesday.
Fast work was confined to the plough, which provided good footing.
A large number of horses from the centre were to have a run at the Waipukiurau jumpouts later in the day.
Testwin had co-trainer Leah Zydenbos aboard when working in from the 1000m peg in 1:05.5. He ran the first 400m in an easy 28.4 before increasing the speed over the last 600 in 37.1.
The big Time Test gelding looks to have thrived since winning two races in a row, the most recent over 1200m at Otaki on September 6. He will now be stepped up to 1400m in the Rating 75 race at Waverley with Masa Hashizume booked to ride him.
Duncan Creek, another who could head to Sunday’s Waverley meeting, also galloped over 1000m on his own, recording 1:05 and 37.2 for the last 600. He needed the run and wasn’t happy on the synthetic track at Awapuni last start and could show a marked improvement back on a grass track this weekend.
Bedtime Story and Magill worked easily together over 800m in 59.1, the last 600 in 43.
Bedtime Story has had two recent trials for a win and a second and will resume in the Group 3 $1000,000 Grangewilliam Stud Breeders Stakes (1400m) at Hawera on October 4.
Magill is a two-year-old colt by Farnan in the Lowry/Zydenbos stable and could make his race debut at Otaki this Saturday, providing track conditions are not too testing. He finished second in a recent Foxton trial over 850m.
La Dulcin’ee was let off with an easy 800m in 56.1, the last 600 in 41.2. She could also head to Waverley on Sunday where she is entered for a Rating 65 race over 1200m.
Her stablemate Flying Angel ran 800m in 53.9, the last 600 in 39.9 and looked to be stretching out well at the finish. She finished third over 1400m on the Awapuni synthetic track last start.
