Bedtime Story, preparing for Saturday’s Group 1 New Zealand Thoroughbred Breeders’ Stakes at Trentham, reeled off a good solo gallop at this morning’s Hastings trackwork session.
Fast work was confined to the plough, which provided good footing.
Bedtime Story worked in from the 1000m peg in 1:04.9, running the first 400m in an easy 27.5 before increasing the speed over the last 600 in 37.4.
The Per Incanto mare looks to have trained on well since her last start win over 1340m at Wanganui.
Say I Do, another last start winner at Wanganui, also worked well on her own when she sprinted home her last 600m in 37.7. She is likely to return to Wanganui on April 6 for another Rating 65 race over 1600m.
Testwin had co-trainer Leah Zydenbos aboard when restricted to just three-quarter pace over 800m, running home the last 600 in 43. He looks to be coming up well in a fresh campaign and is likely to have a jumpout at Hastings early next month.
A promising War Decree three-year-old filly in the Lowry/Zydenbos stable worked on her own over 800m in 58.6, the last 600 in 41.2 while Wave worked in at three-quarter pace from the 800m peg, running home the last 600 in 44.1.
Last start winner Exit Left was not hurried when running a solo 1000m in 1:13, the last 600 in 42.4. He could line up at Trentham this Saturday if the track becomes wet.
Creation was also kept under a good hold when working in from the 800m peg, running home the last 600 in 42.6. The Dundeel four-year-old won a 1000m heat at last week’s Foxton trials and could make his race debut at either Wanganui or Otaki in the next couple of weeks.
An Eminent two-year-old filly and one by Savabeel worked together over 600m in 41.4 while Twix worked easily over 800m in 59.1, the last 600 in 43.
Abba Takes It All worked over 1000m at three-quarter pace, the last 600 in 43 while Prestissimo underwent similar work, coming home the last 600 in 44.8.
