Class mare Faraglioni showed she is ready for another good performance in Saturday’s Group 1 feature at Hastings with a strong workout at this morning’s Hastings trackwork session.

Trainer Josh Shaw has brought the six-year-old through from his Levin base well in advance of Saturday’s Arrowfield Stud Plate just as he did when the mare finished runner-up in the Tarzino Trophy on the first day of the Hawke’s Bay Spring Carnival.

Fast work was conducted on the plough and on the course proper, both tracks providing good footing.

Faraglioni had raceday rider Jonathan Riddell aboard when she worked with Blissful Belle up against the running rail on the course proper. They ran 1200m in 1:15, recording 39.8 for the first 600 before quickening appreciably over the final 600 in 35.2.

Shaw was pleased with Faraglioni’s work and it should top her off nicely for Saturday’s 1600m event.

Stablemates Duncan Creek and Fonsi also recorded a strong gallop on the course proper and were about 12 metres out from the running rail. They ran 1000m in 1:06.3, the last 600 in 36.7. Duncan Creek will resume in the Open 1300m race at Hastings on Saturday while Fonsi is entered for the Rating 65 race over 1400m.

Zappa Jak and Moonlight Hustler also worked outside the markers on the course proper and clocked 1:07.9 for 1000m, the last 600 in 38.3. Zappa Jak will contest the Open 2000m race at Hastings on Saturday while Moonlight Hustler will be entered for the Rating 65 race over 2100m.

Testwin and Speed Dial, both in the Lowry/Zydenbos stable, worked keenly together over 1000m on the plough in 1:01.3, the last 600 in 36.8. Testwin may start at Hastings on Saturday if there is some easing in track conditions otherwise both he and Speed Dial will run at Woodville on Sunday.

Debbi Harri and Detrimental, two horses from John Bary’s stable, worked together over 1000m, wide out on the course proper, in 1:03.7, the last 600 in 37.4 while Miss Emerald worked with another from the Bary stable over 1200m on the same track in 1:18.5, the last 600 in 39.

Eparaima and Waihaha Falls worked in from the 1000m peg on the plough and ran home the last 800m in 49.3, the final 600 in a quick 35.6. Eparaima will be entered for the Rating 65 race over 1400m at Hastings on Saturday.

Wish Me Well and Little Miss Muffet, two possible runners at Woodville on Sunday, worked together over 1000m on the plough in 1:09.9, the last 600 in 39.4 while Makkaldee and a Super Easy four-year-old gelding ran over the same ground in 1:06.9, the last 600 in 38.1.

Who’s Sam was stretching out well at the end of a solo 1200m on the plough in 1:18.4, running the first 600m in an easy 42.8 before quickening over the last 600 in 35.8.

Free Bee had co-trainer Mick Brown aboard when working easily over 800m in 55.8, the last 600 in 39.9 while Carmenere worked in from the 1200m peg on the plough and was timed to run home the last 600 in 39.1.
