Fancy Like Lass, preparing for the $80,000 Levin Stakes (1200m) at Otaki this Sunday, stretched out nicely in a solo gallop at this morning’s Hastings trackwork session.

Fast work was confined to the plough, which provided good footing.

Fancy Like Lass had co-trainer Mick Brown aboard when working in from the 1000m peg in 1:04.3, sprinting home the last 600 in 36.3.

The Hellbent mare looks to have trained on well since winning a 1050m trial at Woodville on November 3. Kate Hercock has been booked to ride her on Sunday.

Tulsa King, who will line up in the Group 3 $100,000 Wellington Stakes (1600m) at Otaki, worked keenly with Vaporize over 1000m in 1:05.9, the last 600 in 36.8. Any rain will enhance Tulsa King’s chances.

Say I Do was another who worked on her own when running 1000m in 1:07.2, the last 600 in 38.1. She will probably start at Wanganui on Saturday, either over 1200m or 1340m.

Mount Cook looked to be travelling better than Ocean Beau at the end of 1000m in 1:06.1, the last 600 in 37.1.

Mount Cook is likely to start next in a $65,000 three-year-old set weights and penalties race over 1400m at Trentham on December 6 while Ocean Beau will have a run at next Tuesday’s Woodville trails before making his race debut.

Wild Thyme worked early in the session and was timed to run 800m in 55.5, the last 600 in 40.4 while Uncle Ken ended his work with an easy 600m in 43.4.

Written Up finished ahead of stablemate Portersway at the end of 1000m in 1:09.9, the last 600 in 39.5 while Popsicle was clear of a Tarzino two-year-old filly at the end of 800m, the last 600 in 39.6.

A So You Think three-year-old gelding and one by Turn Me Loose, both in the Thompson/Brown stable, ended their work with an easy 600m in 43 while an Embellish three-year-old filly trained by Guy Lowry and Leah Zydenbos ran an easy 600m in 43.1.

Sea Star Win, trained by Caitlin Johnson, clocked 42.6 for the last 600m of her work.
