Testwin, who is likely to kick off a fresh campaign at Te Rapa this Saturday, stretched out well in a solo gallop at this morning’s Hastings trackwork session.

Fast work was confined to the plough, which provided good footing.

Testwin had co-trainer Leah Zydenbos aboard when running 800m in 52.9, running the first 200m in an easy 15.9s before quickening over the last 600 in 37.

The Time Test gelding has been given a long slow build up towards a return to racing and has shown up well in recent trials and jumpouts. His connections have been waiting for a soft track to kick him off again and are hoping there is plenty of give in the Te Rapa racing surface on Saturday.

Exit Left had co-trainer Mick Brown aboard when he worked easily over 1200m in 1:25, the last 600 in 40.2. He looks to have thrived since winning over 1650m at Waverley earlier this month and will be stepped up to a middle distance for the first time when he lines up over 2040m at Wanganui this Saturday.

Waiata and Court and Bold, two horses in the Lowry/Zydenbos stable, worked in from the 1000m peg together and were let stride out over the last 600m in 37.8. Waiata was formerly trained in the norther and will have her first start from a new stable in a Rating 65 race over 1200m at Wanganui on Saturday.

Double Shot, another heading to Wanganui on Saturday, worked with Lassie over 1000m. They were kept at just three-quarter pace for the first 400m before quickening slightly over the last 600 in 38.2. Double Shot is entered for a maiden 1340m race at Wanganui on Saturday while Lassie heads to the Awapuni synthetic meeting on Sunday.

Carbon Credit worked in from the 1200m peg on his own and was timed to run home the last 1000m in 1:04.5, the last 600 in 38.2. He is another heading to the Awapuni synthetic meeting on Sunday.

Mount Cook was not pressured when running a solo 800m in 55.3, the last 600 in 40.2 while Vincero and Jim Dandy worked together over 1000m in 1:08.3, the last 600 in 39. Vincero is another likely runner at Awapuni on Sunday where he will contest a 2140-metre race.

Abeecee had trainer Caitlin Johnson aboard when running a solo 800m in 56.7, the last 600 in 39.3 while the jumper Touch Of Paradise was sent over three rounds of pacework on the plough, quickening over the last 1000m in 1:14.1 and final 600 in 44.7. He heads to Te Aroha on Monday for a maiden steeplechase.
