TRACKWORK | 27 MAY 2025

There was little in the way of fast work at the Hastings track this morning with a number of horses from the centre competing at the Foxton trials later in the day.

Meritable reeled off a strong 1000m gallop on his own, clocking 1:03.8 for the full distance and 36.5 for the last 600. The Snitzel six-year-old looks to have improved since finishing a good second over 1200m at Trentham last start.

Track conditions could determine where he races next with co-trainer Sue Thompson saying they don’t want to line him up on a track that is too heavy. He will be nominated for both the Open 1200m race at Wanganui and the Open 1400m event at Te Rapa this Saturday.

His stablemate Exit Left also worked over 1000m on his own and clocked 1:06.5, the last 600 in 38.1. He hasn’t raced for five months but looks in good order and may resume in a Rating 65 race over 1340m at Wanganui on Saturday.

La Dulcin’ee, another likely starter in the Rating 65 event at Wanganui, was kept under a hold when running 1000m in 1:11.2, the last 600 in 39.4. The Per Incanto mare covered plenty of extra ground when finishing sixth over 1100m at Trentham last start.

Snowflake and No Trumps, two horses from the Lowry/Zydenbos stable entered for Wanganui on Saturday, worked together over 1000m early in the session and were timed to run home the last 600m in 37.8.
