A nice 800-metre workout by a pair of two-year-olds in the Thompson/Brown stable was the highlight during another quiet trackwork session at Hastings today.

Working on the No.1 grass, an Alamosa two-year-old gelding and a Vespa two-year-old filly worked in from the 800m peg in 55.6, running the first 200m at three-quarter pace before quickening over the last 600 in 38.2.

Agent Orange, trained by Fred Pratt and Caitlin Johnson, worked in from the 1400m peg on the plough in 1:30.2 and ran home the last 600m in 40.7.

Bahia Emerald, who lines up on the synthetic track at Awapuni on Thursday, was given two easy 600m runs on the plough, the second one taking 45.2s. She has performed well on the synthetic track in the past.

Wewillrock and Eyegeegee, two horses from the Lowry/Zydenbos stable heading to Saturday’s Wanganui meeting, were restricted to just two rounds of pacework after both horses were given searching gallops last Saturday.

Duncan Creek is another Hastings-trained runner at Wanganui on Saturday, where he will contest the Rating 75 race over 1340m. He was an unlucky fifth over 1400m at Trentham on Saturday.
