Stablemates Exit Left and Celebrity worked well together when running a reasonably easy 1000 metres at today’s Hastings track.
There was little in the way of fast work with the Lowry/Zydenbos stable deciding to take 14 horses to the Waipukurau track to gallop on the course proper there.
Exit Left and Celebrity worked in from the 1000m peg on the plough in 1”08.2, running the first 400m in 28.5 before coming home the last 600 in 39.7.
Exit Left hasn’t raced since finishing fifth at Te Rapa on July 5 but has been ticking over nicely in training. He is likely to have a run at the Foxton trials next Tuesday before resuming racing at the Woodville meeting on August 17.
Meritable, another likely to have a run at the Foxton trials next Tuesday, had co-trainer Mick Brown aboard when running 1000m at three-quarter pace. He is another who has been freshened since racing at the beginning of this month.
Mount Cook and Father Ted worked together over 1000m in 1:08.7, the last 600 in 39.6 while Basil The Greek ran a solo 1000m in 1:11.7, the last 600 in 41.4. He is another likely to have a run at next Tuesday’s Foxton trials.
Meltemi and Prestissimo, two horses trained by Richard McKenzie and Jordan Bassett, were both restricted to just three-quarter pace.
