Suave and Swiffty, two horses from the Lowry/Zydenbos stable likely to race at Tauherenikau on Sunday, galloped strongly together at today’s Hastings trackwork session.
Working on the plough track, Suave and Swiffty clocked 51.4 for 800m, running the first 200 in 13.9 before coming home the last 600 in 37.5. Both horses were stretching out well at the finish.
Suave won an 850m Foxton trial last week and is likely to contest the maiden 1300m race at Tauherenikau while Swiffty is coming off a last start third over 1200m at Waverley on October 18 and will be entered for the maiden 1000m race.
Magill and Le Zain Bolt, two others from the Lowry/Zydenbos stable likely to start at Tauherenikau, worked in from the 900m peg at three-quarter pace and quickened over the last 600 in 38.6. They were also travelling strongly at the finish.
Magill, who finished second in the Karaka Millions Two-year-old Classic (1200m) at Ellerslie last season, is likely to kick off a fresh campaign in the Rating 75 race over 1000m at Tauherenikau while Le Zain Bolt is a Hello Youmzain two-year-old filly who could make her race debut there.
Win And Tonic had trainer Tayla Hall aboard when running an easy 600m in 42.1. He is a Derryn three-year-old gelding who won a 1200m jumpout at Hastings last month.
Eighty Eight clocked 57.6 for an easy 800m, the last 600 in 41.6 while Jackie Stuart ran 600m in 42.1.
