Fancy Like Lass took the time honours in another reasonably quiet trackwork session at Hastings today.
Fast work was confined to the plough, which provided good footing.
Fancy Like Lass worked in from the 1000m peg in 1:08.4, running the first 400m in a leisurely 31.6 before sprinting home the last 600 in 36.8.
The Hellbent mare has not raced since finishing third over 1100m at Trentham on January 11 but has been kept up to the mark in training and could start next in an open 1200m race at either Otaki or Ellerslie on February 22.
Everending worked over a round on his own and was timed to run the last 1200m in 1:25.7, the final 600 in 38.8. He holds a nomination for the Group 1 New Zealand Derby (2400m) and may contest the Avondale Guineas (1600m) at Ellerslie on February 22.
Meritable worked in from the 800m peg in 52.6, running the first 200m in an easy 15.4 before quickening over the last 600 in 37.2. He is a Snitzel six-year-old in the Thompson/Brown stable who recorded a win and several minor placings when trained in the north.
Nozumi, entered for Sunday’s Otaki meeting, worked over a round and was timed to run home the last 1200m in 1:22.9, the final 600 in 38.1. He will contest a 1600m maiden race at Otaki with Katye Hercock booked to ride him.
Briar ended her work with 600min 39.7 while Creation worked easily over the same distance in 41.2.
A Castlevecchio two-year-old and one by Time Test, both trained by Mick Brown and Sue Thompson, worked together when running an easy 600m in 40.1.
