TRACKWORK | 5 MAY 2026
John Jenkins | May 05, 2026

Strong gallops by the stablemates La Dulcin’ee and Say I Do as well as a good workout by Testwin were among the highlights at this morning’s Hastings trackwork session.

Fast work was confined to the plough, which provided good footing.

La Dulcin’ee worked in from the 1000m peg on her own and quickened over the last 800 in 49.6 and final 600 in 37.

The Per Incanto mare was unsuited by the puggy track conditions when unplaced at Waipukurau last start and will now head to either the Waverley meeting this Saturday or Wanganui on Sunday for another Rating 65 race.

Say I Do worked over 1200m in 1:22.6, running the first 600m at three-quarter pace before sprinting home the last 600 in 36.2. She was also unsuited by the puggy track conditions at Waipukurau and is another who could race at either Waverley or Wanganui this weekend.

Testwin worked over 800m when the track was partially blanketed by fog and could only be timed over the last 600 in 38.1. He looked to be striding out well and is ready to kick off a fresh campaign at Waverley on Saturday, after finishing a good second in a 1000m Hastings trial last week.

Exit Left had co-trainer Mick Brown aboard when working over 1000m in 1:09.1 but fog prevented any sectional timing. He was a good last start second over 1400m at Otaki las start and is another who could start at either Waverley or Wanganui this weekend.

Popsicles turned in a good solo gallop over 1000m in 1:06.2, the last 600 in 37.7. She is an Eminent mare in Aaron Bidlake’s stable who finished a good second in a 1200m Hastings rial last week and could resume at the Hawke’s Bay meeting on May 21.

It’s Amelia was another who turned in a good solo gallop when running 800m in 51.3, the last 600 in 37.3 while the stablemates Will and Charlunga also worked over 800m but could only be timed over the last 600 in 37.1 in the fog.

Chime, a member of the Lowry/Zydenbos stable, clocked 55.2 for 800m, the last 600 in 38.6 while stablemate Anaroa was kept under a hold over the same distance in 59, the last 600 in 41.7.

Trust Alone and Jim Dandy worked together over 1200m in 1:23.4, running the first 600 at three-quarter pace before quickening over the last 600 in 39. Trust Alone is likely to contest a Rating 65 race over 2200m at Waverley on Saturday.

Carbon Credit was timed to run 800m in 57.2 while Lady Chandon ran the last 600 of her work in 39.6.

Half Share had co-trainer Mick Brown aboard when running twice over 600m, the first in an easy 44.7 and the second in 39.9 while a Noverre two-year-old and one by Time Test, both in the Lowry/Zydenbos stable, clocked 54.5 for 800m, the last 600 in 39.5.
