Stablemates Bedtime Story and Poukawa, both likely starters at Tauherenikau on Sunday, turned in a solid gallop together at this morning’s Hastings trackwork session.
Fast work was confined to the plough, which provided good footing.
Bedtime Story and Poukawa galloped 800m and clocked 51.1s, running the first 200m in 14.3s before coming home strongly over the last 600 in 36.8.
Both horses were working strongly at the finish and look ready to race well on Sunday.
Bedtime Story will contest the Rating 75 race over 1000m while Poukawa is entered for the Rating 65 race over 1300m.
Uncle Barry and Titan, two others from the Lowry/Zydenbos stable, also worked well together when running 1000m in 1:05, the last 600 in 36.6. Both horses could contest the maiden 1000m race at Tauherenikau on Sunday.
Candle worked over 800m early in the session and was timed to run home the last 400m in 24.5. She finished third in a 1000m trial at Waipukurau last Thursday and will be entered for the Rating 75 race over 1300m at Te Rapa this Saturday.
Last start winner Kalledu Thunder was not hurried when running a solo 1000m in 1:11.4, the last 600 in 41.3 and he is likely to start next in the three-year-old race over 1400m at Trentham on November 15.
Fancy Like Lass and Celebrity, both in the Tompson/Brown stable, worked in from the 800-metre peg at three-quarter pace, quickening slightly over the last 600 in 39.3. Fancy Like Lass looks to have come back from an injury enforced layoff in good order.
A Proisir four-year-old mare and a Darci Brahma three-year-old filly worked together over 800m in 53.6, the last 600 in 38.6 while Can Johnny Be Good ended his work with 600m in 39.4.
The Stoney One was restricted to just three-quarter pace over 800m, the last 600 in 42s and is likely to start next in an Open 1100m race at Trentham on November 15.
