Fancy Like Lass and Prestissimo, two likely starters at Trentham this Saturday, recorded good solo gallops at this morning’s Hastings trackwork session.

Fast work was confined to the plough, which provided good footing.

Fancy Like Lass had co-trainer Mick Brown aboard when working in from the 1000m peg in 1:06.3, quickening as she went along to finally come home the last 600 in 35.9s.

The daughter of Hellbent has not raced for nearly 12 months due to an enforced injury layoff but has had a good slow build up to a fresh return the racetrack, including two barrier trials and an exhibition gallop between races at Wanganui on December 29.

She will be entered for the Open 1100m race at Trentham on Saturday but will only start if the track is not too soft. Kate Hercock has been booked to ride her.

Prestissimo worked over 1000m in 1:07.6, running the fist 400m in an easy 30.3 before quickening over the last 600 in 37.3. She was to have started in the last race at Trentham last Saturday but an accident on the Remutaka Hill closed the road for several hours meaning the horse float she was on was unable to get to the racecourse in time. She will now be entered for a Rating 65 race over 1400m there this Saturday.

The Stoney One, another likely starter in the Open 1100m race at Trentham on Saturday, ran a solo 800m in 48.9, the last 600 in 36. He has a good record on the Trentham track.

Impressive last start winner Everending was kept under a good hole when running 1000m on his own in 1:12.1, the last 600 in 41.3. He is likely to start next in a Rating 65 race over 1600m at Trentham on Saturday week.

Free Bee was not hurried when running a solo 1000m in 1:09.9, the last 600 in 39 while stablemate Piccalilli  ran an easy 1000m in 1:12.1, the last 600 in 41.

Nozumi was another from the Thompson/Brown stable who was not extended when running a solo 1000m in 1:12.4, the last 600 in 40.6.
