Fancy Like Lass strode out well in a solo gallop at this morning’s Hastings trackwork session as she prepares for Saturday’s Listed $80,000 City Of Napier Sprint at Trentham.
Fast work was confined to the plough, which provided good footing.
Fancy Like Lass had co-trainer Sue Thompson aboard when running 1000m in 1:04.3. She ran the first 400m in 26.6 before quickening over the last 600 in 37.7 and looked to have plenty in reserve at the finish.
The Hellbent mare was a good last start third over 1200m at Trentham and in-form apprentice Tayla Mitchell has been booked to ride her in Saturday’s 1200m event.
Agent Orange, who could also head to Saturday’s Trentham meeting, had trainer Fred Pratt aboard when working over a round. The Sweet Orange four-year-old was timed to come home the last 1200m in 1:21.3 and final 600 in 37.9.
Can Johnny Be Good sprinted 600m on his own in 36.8 while Say I Do was not hurried when running a solo 600m in 38.9.
Meritable and Flying Angel worked together over 800m in 55.5, the last 600 in 40.2 while Briar had new owner-trainer Taylor Hall aboard when working over 1200m in 1:25.2, the last 600 in 40.
Vaporize was kept to just three-quarter pace when working over 800m while all of the horses from the Lowry/Zydenbos stable were restricted to pacework, with several of them having galloped on the track the previous day.
