IN Our Horses
TRACKWORK | 8 JULY 2025
John Jenkins | July 08, 2025

There was little in the way of fast work at today’s Hastings trackwork session, with most horses restricted to just three-quarter pace.

Mount Cook and Father Ted, two horses prepared by Mick Brown and Sue Thompson, worked together bovver 600m in 39s. Mount Cook is a promising two-year-old colt by Castelvecchio while Father Ted is a two-year-old gelding by Time Test.

Testwin, who is in the early stages of a fresh campaign, worked in from the 800-metre peg on the plough at three-quarter pace, running home the last 600 in 45.2. He showed plenty of promise last year and hasn’t raced since November.

Night Owl clocked 57.3 for an easy 800m, the last 600 in 43 while Prestissimo ran an easy 600m on the No.1 grass in 45.3 in her first serious hit out since resuming from a spell.

Meritable, another who is back after a freshen up, had co-trainer Mick Brown aboard when working in from the 800m peg at three-quarter pace, the last 600 in 45.8.

A Darci Brahma two-year-old gelding in the Lowry/Zydenbos stable ran the last 600m of his work in 43.8 while a Turn Me Loose-Midnight Molly two-year-old filly in the same stable ran her last 600m in 44.6.
