TRACKWORK | 9 JAN 2024

Fonsi was the only horse to work at speed at this morning’s Hastings trackwork session as he prepares for Thursday’s Wanganui meeting.

Fast work was confined to the plough, which provided good footing.

Fonsi ran a solo 600m in 37.6 and looked to be stretching out well at the finish. He was a close last start second over 1200m at Hastings and will line up over the same distance at Wanganui, with Michael McNab booked to ride him.

Last start winner Fancy Like Lass had co-trainer Mick Brown aboard when working easily over 800m, the last 600 in 41.5. She is likely to start next in a Rating 75 race over 1000m at Trentham on January 20.

Bellesgirl, another entered for Wanganui on Thursday, was kept to just three-quarter pace over 1000m, coming home the last 600 in 44.7. She has been disappointing this time in and is having her last chance to show a return to form.

Several horses from the Lowry/Zydenbos stable were to be floated down to the Waipukurau track to gallop on the course proper there later in the morning.
